Job Description

The Senior Director, Trade & Distribution, will build, lead, and manage the team focused on developing strategies to support the launch and lifecycle management of leading Parkinson's and ALS therapies and future products in the U.S. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing distribution strategies across specialty businesses, including specialty pharmacies and distributors supporting MTPA products. The role requires knowledge of distribution systems including durable medical equipment and leadership experience managing teams working with specialty vendors. Collaboration across functions like supply chain, marketing, and sales is essential.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for Trade Market Access strategy for Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma US’ Parkinson and ALS products.
  • Innovate distribution network aligned with business needs, identifying growth opportunities, and addressing operational gaps.
  • Lead development and execution in Federal Markets including VA and Department of Defense to drive access and growth.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Market Access perspective on 340B and other government programs.
  • Inform senior and corporate executives about changes in trade environments impacting MTPA.
  • Develop awareness of market and government policy changes collaborating with legal, compliance, and stakeholders.
  • Support market access marketing agency and vendor relationships to align promotional programs with distribution.
  • Understand dynamics of market access segments and channels and their impact on distribution functions.
  • Manage budgets, project timelines, and contracts including Distribution Service Agreements and Product Purchase Agreements.
  • Develop account metrics against strategic, financial, and product access KPIs.
  • Monitor KPIs and assess impact and execution of access services including stakeholder feedback.
  • Attend professional, provider, and patient conferences to stay updated on innovations and recommend improvements.
  • This is a home office based position with an expectation to be in the office 3 days a week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters preferred.
  • 15+ years in the pharmaceutical industry with 10 years in Distribution, Account Management or Market Access functions.
  • Experience with distribution for early-stage pipeline programs.
  • Experience in Federal Markets including VA, Department of Defense, and 340B Program preferred.
  • Device/Drug combination experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience.
  • Proven record of closing complex negotiations within specialty pharmacy arena.
  • Preferred experience: distribution, launch and lifecycle management, market access marketing, successful negotiations.
  • Broad knowledge of Pharma/Biotech industry, healthcare finance, and all forms of product distribution (DME, Orals, Solutions).
  • Firm grasp of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues in healthcare.
  • Analytical and strategic thinker capable of situation analysis, strategic planning, gap analysis, and metric-based solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to drive change and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and deliver results within budget.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally about 40%.
