Job Description

Medical Information is a critically important customer-facing function that supports the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical products by providing timely, scientifically balanced, evidence-based, nonpromotional information in response to unsolicited requests from healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and payers. It also plays an important role in post-marketing handling of adverse events and product complaints. As part of the Medical Information Contact Center (MICC) team, this position delivers industry-leading services including Contact Center staffing for responding to product information requests, identifying and handling adverse events and/or product quality issues, and medical writing to generate written responses for medical questions received. This requires clinical and therapeutic knowledge, critical and analytical thinking, and a customer/patient-centric approach. Specialists typically support multiple pharmaceutical clients, products, and therapeutic areas.
Essential duties include responding to medical information inquiries from healthcare professionals and consumers, utilizing medical literature research to create responses, medical writing for adverse event and product complaint intake, handling requests across multiple channels, identifying adverse events and product complaints according to FDA regulations, coordinating responses to product quality-related complaints, maintaining product and client knowledge, ensuring documentation quality and customer service excellence, providing medical writing assistance, staffing scientific medical affairs booths, on-call responsibilities, and miscellaneous projects like market research and field team support.

Qualifications

Minimum knowledge and skills include an advanced healthcare degree (preferred PharmD or higher), strong clinical background, and excellent communication skills.
Preferred qualifications are similar with emphasis on PharmD or higher education, pharmacist licensure, experience in Contact Center and Pharmaceutical industry, proficiency in telephony and Medical Information databases and office software, therapeutic expertise, knowledge of medical literature evaluation and Medical Information contact center systems, and experience in specialty areas such as Oncology, Hematology, Immunology, rare diseases, Neurology, Cardiology, or other specialties. Positive attitude, communication skills, innovation, and high moral character are valued.
Physical and mental demands include reaching, grasping, standing or sitting for long periods, walking, talking, hearing, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds, in a moderately quiet environment with frequent interruptions.
