About the Role

The Design Engineer role sits within the Product delivery team, responsible for delivering Elvie’s game-changing products to empower women. Reporting to a Principal/Senior Design Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of a system, technology and/or small assembly of parts, requiring product development experience.
Responsibilities include developing and iterating ideas and concepts, prototyping, building rigs, testing and analyzing results to create innovative product solutions. The role involves collaborating across teams such as Product Managers, Operations and Quality teams, ensuring products meet user needs and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a product team developing concepts and technologies for next-generation products.
  • Own the development of a system, technology and/or small assembly.
  • Define elegant but robust solutions to satisfy product functional requirements.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to technical problems.
  • Communicate ideas using sketching, CAD layouts, 3D models, and prototypes.
  • Build knowledge of production technology, materials and finishes to challenge design constraints.
  • Source solutions from external technology providers to reduce time to market.
  • Participate in design reviews and ideation sessions.
  • Develop and execute verification and validation test plans.
  • Generate design and engineering documentation.
  • Exhibit curiosity and drive for better solutions.
  • Demonstrate integrity and courage in work.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop impactful products.

Qualifications

Essential:
  • Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Product development experience in the industry.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical product development.
  • Understanding of stakeholders in product development.
  • 3D CAD modeling experience, preferably Solidworks.
  • Ability to develop engineering parts within a product team.
  • Experience with rapid and manual prototyping.
  • Effective cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Self-starter with strong visual and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to empathize with users.
Bonus:
  • Experience liaising with Contract Manufacturers, possibly involving some international travel.
  • Use of product development tools such as FMEA, Tolerance Analysis, GD&T.
  • Experience with wearable and/or connected product development.
  • Experience designing medical devices and working in ISO 13485 environment is ideal.
