The Else Kröner Fresenius Center (EKFZ) for Digital Health is a joint cross-faculty initiative of Technische Universität Dresden, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden, and several partners on the Dresden campus. It creates a new interdisciplinarity between medicine and high-tech by bundling expertise from medicine and engineering, accelerating digitization in medicine for the benefit of patients.

The EKFZ focuses its research on the direct interface of the digital world to the patient, bridging medical big data efforts and traditional biomedical engineering. Research areas include robotics, implants, sensors, medical devices, and connected care with an emphasis on translating high-tech innovations into routine care.

EKFZ offers interdisciplinary projects supported by specific professorships. They provide strategic development areas strengthening scientific infrastructure and theoretical foundations. The center promotes exchange, collaboration, and the pace of innovation in health care through its researchers and team members.
