Founded by the Hasso-Plattner-Foundation, all activities exclusively pursue philanthropic goals. Data4Life focuses on digitizing public health, accelerating personalized medicine, and remaining purpose-driven and nonprofit.

Data4Life digitizes health research by enabling access to daily health data generated from devices like smartwatches and apps. The organization works to make health data interoperable and accessible for research to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases for the benefit of all.

They offer digital solutions such as D4L Collect, a sensor data collection platform; Data2Evidence, a health data management solution; and D4L FAIR, a health research metadata catalog. These solutions facilitate standardized data collection, integration, analysis, and reuse of research data according to FAIR principles.
