The Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) is a non-profit coalition that advances the responsible development, deployment, and oversight of artificial intelligence in healthcare. CHAI brings together industry, government, academia, clinicians, payors, and patient communities to build consensus-driven standards, playbooks, and frameworks that promote trust, transparency, safety, and equity in health AI.
Core activities
CHAI develops practical resources and community platforms to support responsible health AI, including:
- Workgroups and playbooks (e.g., AI Governance, Risk Categorization, Ambient AI, Clinical Trials)
- Applied guidance and Testing & Evaluation frameworks for specific use cases
- A Public Registry for transparent disclosure of health AI tools and models
- Partnership and membership programs to align stakeholders around best practices
