About the role
We are looking for an operationally-minded scientist or biopharma project manager to oversee lab experimentation and data generation efforts at Chai. Experimental data is key to testing research hypotheses and training frontier AI models. You will help set the vision and execute scaling of Chais lab-in-the-loop data engine, manage CRO and external research partners, and work hand-in-hand with our science and AI research teams.

About you
Our ideal candidate is operations-focused and execution-minded. Someone who always keeps the trains running on time and always operates with urgency, with strong communication skills and analytical abilities.
- Proven record of designing & executing complex projects, while managing multi-party relationships.
- Translate internal scientific goals into concrete, CRO-friendly instructions 6assays, deliverables, success criteria.
- Clear organization of workflows and know-how, including keeping SOWs, timelines, sample trackers, CRO contacts, and data up-to-date.
- Juggle many concurrent projects, adapt priorities quickly, and keep everyone in sync with tight feedback loops
- Excellent at communicating highly technical information with internal & external audiences, up and down the org chart.
- Basic technical literacy in the work being outsourced. Ability to interpret and package up data is a huge bonus.
Scientific Background:
We are targeting individuals with strong scientific backgrounds, but are open to self-starters who can learn fast and dive deep into new domains. Experience working with CROs and complex networks of partners is extremely beneficial.
- MS equivalent industry experience in Biological Sciences, Protein Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field; PhD is a bonus.
- Comfortable working with scientific data (e.g., in spreadsheets and GraphPad Prism) and collaborating with Science team members.
- Exposure to design and characterization of traditional and next-generation biologics. Familiar with antibody design constructs, expression and purification campaigns, and binding is a plus.
