Job Description

Arbiter is the AI-powered care orchestration system that unites healthcare. Today, healthcare runs on $100B+ in fragmented point solutions that can't see the full picture. Arbiter replaces them with a single intelligent system that sits on top of EMRs and existing workflows, unifies clinical, policy, and financial data, then automates the actions that close care gaps - starting with site-of-care optimization.
Backed by one of the largest seed rounds in health tech history and operators who bring the expertise and distribution to scale nationally, Arbiter is building the connected infrastructure healthcare should have had all along.

Engineering & Design Culture & Values

Arbiter's engineering and design team is a high-performing group dedicated to delivering innovative, high-quality solutions to clients and business partners. They value:
  • Engineering & Design Excellence: Taking immense pride in their technical and design craft, treating both their processes and products with utmost respect and care.
  • Impact-Driven Development: Committed to engineering and designing high-quality, fault-tolerant, and highly scalable systems that evolve seamlessly with business needs, minimizing disruption and maximizing user value.
  • Collaboration Over Ego: Valuing exceptional work and groundbreaking ideas above all else, seeking talented individuals accustomed to fast-paced environments and driven to ship often for significant impact.
  • Continuous Growth: Fostering an environment of continuous learning, mentorship, and professional development where expertise can deepen and careers grow.

Responsibilities

As a Senior UX Designer, you will be pivotal in shaping the user experience of Arbiter's intelligent operating system, ensuring it is functional, intuitive, efficient, and delightful for healthcare users:
  • User Research & Discovery: Lead and conduct comprehensive user research including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and ethnographic studies with diverse healthcare stakeholders such as clinicians, administrators, and patients to understand their needs, pain points, and workflows deeply.
  • User Experience Strategy: Define and articulate user experience strategies, information architecture, user flows, and interaction models that translate complex healthcare processes into simple, intuitive solutions.
  • Design Execution: Create various design artifacts, including wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes, effectively communicating design concepts and iterating based on feedback.
  • Functional Prototyping: Develop functional prototypes to simulate user interactions and workflows, enabling rigorous testing and validation of design concepts before engineering implementation.
  • Design Systems: Contribute to the evolution and governance of the design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficiency across all products and platforms.
  • Usability Testing & Iteration: Plan and execute usability tests, analyze results, and translate insights into actionable design improvements to foster a continuous feedback loop.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, backend engineers, AI engineers, and especially frontend developers building in React and Next.js to ensure design feasibility, successful implementation, and high-quality user experience.
  • Advocacy & Education: Champion user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and ethical design practices across the organization, educating and influencing stakeholders.
  • Technical & Design Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to other designers, contribute to design critiques, and help define the vision for the product's user experience.
  • Hiring & Onboarding: Participate in interviewing and onboarding new team members, helping to grow a world-class design organization.
