Actuary Software Engineer

In our first 18 months, Arbital Health has established itself as a trusted partner for over 40 payers, providers, and other stakeholders looking to navigate the complexities of risk-based contracting.

In this role, you will help build our web platform, working on both the backend and frontend, while also assisting in the development of client-specific projects. You will leverage your actuarial background to improve the engineering teams output, quality of work product, and development cycle as we build the neutral third-party platform to accelerate the adoption of value-based care in the US.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Review code, methodology, and analysis used for financial reporting in the healthcare industry
  • Contribute to features of the Arbital Platform, especially financial reporting features
  • Manage data requirements, evaluate appropriateness of data, and problem solve any issues with internal data and customers Claims, Eligibility, and Prescription data
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders as needed
  • Make recommendations based on analysis and communicate results and solutions to meet client needs in a timely manner
  • Increase efficiency through process standardization
  • Model financial outcomes, evaluate drivers of healthcare trends, and identify risks
  • Leverage your strong backend development skills in Python and with platforms like Databricks and AWS while working on the processing of high volumes of complex healthcare data
  • Work closely with Product and Design teams to create a user experience that intuitively conveys complex healthcare and financial information
  • Collaborate with an actuarial science team that primarily works in SAS, R, and Excel
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and overall development of our products
  • Drive innovation and deliver valuable features for our customers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Actuarial Science or similar field
  • Completion of four or more Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as an actuarial analyst, with experience in medical claims data, especially experience with Medicare, Medicaid, or ACO business
  • Strong technical skills (including R, Python, SQL, Next.js, or React)
  • Startup experience is highly preferred
