Posted on May 22, 2026 (4 days ago)

About us

At Ada, we envision a world where everyone gets the healthcare they need. Yet, millions remain undiagnosed and untreated due to the complexity of identifying rare and underrecognized conditions, even when effective treatments exist.
We’re changing that. Powered by leading AI and built by a team of physicians and clinical scientists, Ada helps people get answers faster, identifying those at risk and guiding them to the right care. Every successful journey makes us smarter and able to help more people.
If you’re passionate about transforming healthcare and ensuring no one goes undiagnosed, join us and be part of what’s next.

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a small cross-functional engineering team focused on evolving, onboarding and integrating Ada’s solutions into customers’ systems (Health Systems and Life Sciences). This team owns critical services that are configured and deployed to meet customer requirements. You will perform a player-coach role — ideal for a technical leader who wants to remain hands-on with code while continuing to hone their management skills. You will split your time between technical contribution (architecture, code review, key feature development) and people leadership (mentoring, career development, and process improvement).
You will partner closely with Solution Architects and Product Managers to define technical feasibility for enterprise clients and ensure we deliver robust, safe, secure, and scalable integrations. This is a remote position based in Canada. Our preference is for candidates located in Eastern or Atlantic time zones due to frequent interaction with teams throughout Europe.

What you’ll do

  • Technical Leadership & Execution: Act as a hands-on technical lead for the squad, contributing to code (Kotlin/Spring Boot/React), reviewing PRs, and driving architectural decisions. Ensure the reliability and scalability of our client-facing integration layer (SDKs, APIs, SSO). Participate in the on-call rotation and lead incident response for the team’s services, ensuring high availability for our clients. Champion and drive engineering best practices.
  • People Management & Team Development: Manage a small team of engineers; responsible for 1:1s, performance feedback, and career growth planning. Foster a strong culture of ownership where engineers feel empowered to deliver high-quality work. Collaborate with stakeholders to align individual goals with company objectives.
  • Delivery & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with Product Management to estimate complex integration projects and establish realistic delivery timelines. Serve as a technical voice in conversations with enterprise clients when deep technical expertise is required (e.g. integration scoping). Own the delivery process for the team, ensuring smooth sprints and predictable release cycles and on-time delivery of initiatives.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in full-stack development.
  • 1-2+ years of experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Engineering Manager).
  • Proven track record of balancing hands-on coding with coordination or leadership duties.
  • Experience working with external client integrations, APIs, or SDKs in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience working with distributed/remote teams.
  • Technical proficiency in software architecture, REST APIs, and modern cloud infrastructure; capable of deep-diving into code to unblock the team.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted/agentic coding workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) while maintaining rigour to audit and review generated code.
  • A genuine interest in coaching and mentoring engineers.
  • Understanding of enterprise client constraints (Security, SLAs, Compliance).
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into clear updates for stakeholders and non-technical partners.
  • Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and managing production environments.

What’s awaiting you at Ada

  • Corporate Health Insurance.
  • Support to set up your home office, with the option for a co-working space subscription for remote employees.
  • Parental benefits.
  • Employee Assistance Programs for emotional wellbeing.
  • Online Academy for learning and development opportunities.
